So whats next in development ?
Keeping in the same theme as the warning lights I have been working on a mini display that will be configurable depending on the location.
The idea is to help with driver placement and to speed up the change over of drivers by clearly letting them know which kart to get into in the pit lane.
This was initial testing using Volare as the software to get the driver information from.
Plaed in each kart position in the pits the screen is showing the next driver information.
That is namely the kart number and the driver name.
Driver name is scrolling to get the full name avoiding and confusion.
I have already fixed the scrolling issue where the full screen is not used.
Interesting learning curve with the hardware and coding alike.
Moving further in thought of the possible uses another idea was to have them mounted in the grid positions on the track.
Again using Volare as the software I was able to pick up the start race from the racing module to initiate a start sequence.
I could also use the light interface to add this to the automation.
A combination of the 2 uses on grid would give the driver name and then a start sequence.
Quite a lot of work to do on this yet but I like the idea.
